Sex in marriage can be serious, but it also can (and should!) be funny! #marriage #Christianmarriage #sexandintimacy

About this episode

Sometimes as Christians, we can focus so much on the deeper meaning of sexual intimacy in marriage, on its emotional and spiritual aspects, that we miss a sense of playfulness—or even downright humor. But we’re not going to miss that today, because we’re going to talk about how real sex can be awkward, embarrassing, and even funny.

From the Bible

What does God have to say about the levity of sex in marriage?

Proverbs 17:22: “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Song of Songs 7:12-13: “Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom—there I will give you my love. The mandrakes send out their fragrance, and at our door is every delicacy, both new and old, that I have stored up for you, my beloved.”

Ecclesiastes 8:15: “So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.”

Ecclesiastes 9:9: “Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.”
