We have been overwhelmed this past week by the reception we’ve received for our podcast. As of the writing of this post, we have cleared 6,000 downloads, a number we never imagined we’d see so quickly after our launch.
While we’ve gotten many encouraging comments and good reviews, we have also gotten messages from listeners concerned about the audio quality of our episodes. Let us assure you that we are aware and have been working on the problems.
Podcasting has a rather large learning curve, and for months we prepared in many ways to get this podcast going. However, we are not audio/visual experts. Rather, we four — Bonny, Gaye, J, and Chris — are marriage and sex bloggers, wives with day jobs, household managers, and more. If only one of us, just one, had majored in sound technology!
In this past week, we’ve been researching, speaking with experts, and gathering better sound equipment in an effort to improve our audio quality. We have full confidence that we will get the issues worked out, one way or another.
For those who are wondering, here are steps we are currently taking:
- Purchasing noise-canceling headphones for each podcaster, to reduce the possibility of echo while recording.
- Looking into other sound equipment, such as better microphones, pop filters, sound-absorbing products, etc.
- Trying different recorders, to see which produces the best quality.
- Exploring different approaches for recording and compiling the audio.
- Continuing conversations with audio-technical experts for more ideas.
In the meantime, we pray that you’ll continue listening. While we’d love to promise perfection immediately, it may take us a while to figure this all out. As frustrated as we are by the audio issues, we are thrilled and encouraged by the messages we’ve received from women, our target audience.
It seems that we have achieved our goal of providing quality content in a conversational format that appeals to wives. And even if the sound isn’t just right, we ladies know how to adapt. For years, we’ve been good at talking past and around crying babies, kitchen utensils banging in the kitchen, and the football game and husbands yelling in the other room. (Yes, we know some of you female sports fans were yelling at the TV, too.)
So as we work to get our technical issues ironed out, we ask that you pray for that process to go smoothly, and we invite you to continue joining us at the proverbial kitchen table for a bit of sex chat. We’re so glad you’ve joined us so far!
Completely understandable ladies. It is a learning curve and I believe the audience understands the challenges in launching something like this for the first time. If we can help you out, just let us know. We have some experience with the audio technology we use for hosting our marriage life groups online. Hang in there, it will get easier.
Thanks for the support, encouragement, and offer of help!
